Hi, Out of nowhere, in the last 2 weeks, predators (most likely coyotes) have been hauling away our chickens 4-7/day to the point where we've lost 70+ birds valued at nearly $1000. They've killed many times more in the last two weeks than we've lost in the several years since we've had chickens. I've enlisted a professional pest control guy, and we agree it is most likely a mother/father coyote snatching food to bring back to their cubs who have taken up residence nearby our acreage, and we have a reasonable, tried and true plan for working to remove the problem. (Trapping, baiting, coyote calling, shooting, closing up entrance routes to the chickens, etc.) Now, for out-of-the-box-thinking tech solutions, I look to the Lounge. Budget: $100ish for tech gizmos that might help me locate/catch/kill/annihilate these predators, maybe more if the gizmo is reusable for future mad scientist projects. Yes, the hired guy will be doing traditional methods, but I'm all for multiple plans of attack, and needlessly adding tech gizmos to the equation. Suggestions? Night vision web cams? Motion sensors? Robot turrets? What cheap tech gizmos might help these varmints come to violent deaths? Thanks I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
