Hello, Eating out = McDonald's or Food courts in shopping centres where it's ok to eat by yourself. Table for one at a proper restaurant - tried that once and stuck out like a sore thumb among tables of couples and groups having a convivial time. I've been to the cinema by myself a few times, less embarrassing if it's an arthouse movie as these tend to have quite a few other singletons too. I've been abroad by myself - quite enjoy going anywhere & doing anything I please - however again unable to try local restaurants as a single diner without looking sad. Also been mistaken as a local, people asking me for directions, as they seem to assume if you're walking alone you're probably local. Advantages - all my disposable income is my own. If / When I buy a property it will be my own. Disadvantage - who gets all my stuff when I die? I haven't made a will or nominated next of kin. Anyway... how do other DS singletons cope with life? 🙂 Please help. I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
